About This Place

Coastal Seafoods in Minneapolis, MN, is much more than your typical seafood market — it’s a vibrant, community-focused destination where seafood lovers can immerse themselves in the freshest ocean delights. Located at 2007 E 24th St, this charming spot strikes a perfect balance between a traditional market and an inviting casual dining experience, making it a true gem for both seasoned seafood aficionados and curious newcomers alike.

What sets Coastal Seafoods apart is its unique approach to delivering high-quality seafood with a distinctly local, approachable vibe. Customers rave about the outstanding freshness of their offerings, from raw oysters and sushi-grade fish to hearty lobster rolls packed with generous chunks of succulent meat. One fan, Kirsten Hassler, even drove 30 minutes just to indulge in what she called “the best dang lobster roll I’ve ever had,” a testament to the market’s stellar reputation. The robust seafood selection isn’t just about buying fish—it’s an immersive experience where you can learn and engage. For example, seasoned and newbie oyster shuckers alike get friendly, hands-on guidance — as shared by Alexis J, who appreciated the warm, helpful atmosphere that made her first shucking experience both fun and successful.

Coastal Seafoods also features a cozy lunch counter and a pleasant patio area perfect for savoring your meal while enjoying those cooler Minneapolis temps. Lindsay Bird highlighted the thoughtful ordering system—separating food from beverage orders including local sodas and creative non-alcoholic cocktails—which makes for an efficient and relaxing visit. The outdoor picnic seating adds an airy touch that invites lingering over a plate of lightly fried clam strips or the famous Nashville Hot style sandwich, delivering bold flavors that excite the palate.

This market’s commitment to quality shines through every dish and interaction. Repeat customer Julie Bash praises the consistently fresh oysters and sushi-grade fish, and even the helpful staff and fellow patrons create an inviting, almost familial environment, making every visit feel like a discovery. The occasional critiques, like a clam strip slightly overcooked, speak less to quality and more to the casual, made-fresh vibe—proof that every item is crafted thoughtfully, with genuine care for taste and texture.

Whether you're stopping by to pick up fresh seafood for dinner, indulge in a relaxed lunch, or learn the art of oyster shucking, Coastal Seafoods delivers an authentic and enriching experience. Its blend of top-notch seafood, friendly service, and warm atmosphere makes it a beloved fixture in the Minneapolis food scene. Visit Coastal Seafoods not just to buy fish, but to connect to the ocean’s bounty with enthusiasm and delight, leaving you eager to come back for another taste of the sea.

Stopped in this week as we were looking for a patio to enjoy the cooler temps. You order in the back corner and can eat inside or out. If you want to purchase a beverage (water, teas, N/A cocktails, and locally made soda) you order at a separate counter (maybe at the back counter too but we were waved over to the front counter by main doors.) We ordered the Nashville Hot style sandwhich entree (included fries and coleslaw) and the classic lobster roll. Both were delivered to the table outside with quickly. The lobster roll tasted fresh and the Nashville hot style crab was good, albeit it appeared there was more friend batter than crab.

I have been going to coastal seafood for about 5 plus years. I have never had bad a bad experience. The raw oysters have been fresh along with the sushi grade fish. They were helpful in teaching me to shuck my own oysters. The lunch counter has great clam strips. I do ask for them to be lightly fried. On occasion, they have been overcooked. It is also located next to an awesome asian grocery store to complete your shopping needs or try something new.

Best dang lobster roll I've ever had. Drove 30 minutes because this place came highly recommended on Reddit. Absolutely did not disappoint. While eating it on the way home I found myself wishing I'd gotten two!

Great lunch stop! Roll no sides is at $36, lots of good meat! We enjoyed the outdoor picnic seating, very cute and quick friendly service.

Came in to grab some oysters. I’d never shucked before, and the folks here were incredibly helpful in selecting varieties that would be easier. Even the other customers were nice and gave recommendations. 10/10 good vibes all around. My husband and I were able to successfully shuck all of our oysters, and they were all DELICIOUS! We will definitely be back for more, as well as to pick out some tinned fish and other goodies.

Love coming to the cafe at Coastal Seafoods. The lobster rolls are incredible and the fish sandwiches are solid, too. Obviously a great place to pick up fresh seafood, tinned fish, sausages, cheese, and pantry items as well. Remember to check the freezer for local sweet treats!

Reasonably priced seafood with a short wait time. This is a very informal eatery and it’s certainly neat to see the fresh fish available in store. Unfortunately, our lobster roll was quite dry and many pieces were over cooked. The fish sandwich was definitely our favorite of the two but it wasn’t particularly crispy and was rather oily. The fish was still flaky and delicious however.
